Disabling PBO for Input Lag/Frametime consistency

Post by Coldplayer » 07 May 2025, 12:12

Has anyone disabled tried PBO on their ryzen CPU to optimize frametimes/latency? I'm guessing that a CPU which is sitting at a particular frequency might not get as many 0.1% fluctuations etc since the CPU is not boosting up or throttling down.

Thanks

depends on what ryzen cpu, results may vary.
on older ryzens ive seen some people say its more stable but on newer ryzen gens no difference in framtimes/0.1%
do a test with capframex on a game 3 runs each game and compare

If you tell me how to do it i will do 1 benchmark now and now with it,and i restart pc after i apply and i will share results if you wish.

FYI I disabled PBO + Core performance boost and my cs2 feels alot more stable. I'm thinking of downloading MSI precision to lock my GPU clocks now as well to see if that helps too.

Locking GPU clocks will most definitely help with smoothness + u can underclock.

Most likely there many guides on your particular GPU model, but still due to other hardware capabilities, make sure to try and find your own sweet spot.

i also lock my gpu this is my test results:

[VProf] FPS: Avg=552.5, P1=230.7 -pbo enabled and Core performance boost enabled
restart pc run test again
[VProf] FPS: Avg=552.5, P1=232.8 -pbo disabled and Core performance boost disabled
