ROG Strix Pulsar XG27AQNGV Firmware Update Help (MCM101 Not Detected by NVIDIA Updater)

Post by WiZZard46 » 07 Jun 2026, 14:21

Hello,

I am looking for assistance regarding firmware updates for my ASUS ROG Strix Pulsar XG27AQNGV monitor.

My monitor is currently running firmware version MCM101 (factory firmware). Since the very first firmware update released for this model, I have never been able to update it because NVIDIA's official G-SYNC Pulsar firmware updater does not detect the monitor as a compatible device.

When opening the updater and clicking "Allow browser to connect", both Chrome and Microsoft Edge display:

"No compatible devices found."

System information:

* Monitor: ASUS ROG Strix Pulsar XG27AQNGV
* Firmware: MCM101
* Monitor Hardware ID: MONITOR\AUSAA05
* USB VID/PID: VID_0B05 / PID_1C2C
* GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti (latest driver installed)

Diagnostics already performed:

* Monitor functions normally over DisplayPort.
* USB upstream cable is connected and working correctly.
* The monitor successfully enters Firmware Update Mode (slowly flashing status LED and "Firmware Update Mode" displayed in the top-left corner of the screen).
* Windows detects the monitor correctly.
* USB Device Tree Viewer confirms the monitor enumerates as:

* ASUS ROG Gaming Display Aura USB Composite Device
* MI_00: WinUSB interface
* MI_01: HID-compliant vendor-defined interface
* Chrome detects the ASUS USB device.
* NVIDIA's updater reports "No compatible devices found."
* Issue reproduced on a second PC with a different NVIDIA GPU.
* Tested with both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
* Browser USB-related permissions/settings were checked.
* All non-essential USB devices were disconnected.
* Testing was repeated with only the XG27AQNGV, keyboard, and mouse connected.
* My second monitor was disconnected during testing.
* The behavior remained unchanged: as soon as I click "Allow browser to connect", the updater immediately reports "No compatible devices found."
* Same result on both systems.

One interesting piece of information I received from another XG27AQNGV owner on the ASUS ROG forum is that they successfully updated their monitor from MCM101 using Microsoft Edge on Windows 11. This suggests that MCM101 itself should be updateable and recognized by NVIDIA's updater.

Because the issue has been reproduced across multiple systems and browsers, and another user has successfully updated from MCM101, I do not believe this is related to drivers, cabling, browser permissions, or a general incompatibility with that firmware version.

My current suspicion is that either:

* The monitor is exposing different USB identifiers/interfaces compared to units that update successfully.
* There is a difference between production batches or hardware revisions.
* The updater's device matching process is failing despite the monitor entering Firmware Update Mode correctly.

Has anyone with an XG27AQNGV been able to compare USB Device Tree Viewer output while in Firmware Update Mode?

Specifically, I would be interested in knowing:

* What VID/PID is reported while the monitor is in Firmware Update Mode?
* Does Windows show any device other than "ROG Gaming Display Aura Device" when the updater detects the monitor?
* Has anyone encountered similar detection issues with the NVIDIA G-SYNC Pulsar firmware updater?

I would also greatly appreciate any advice on how to reach someone at ASUS who is familiar with monitor firmware or G-SYNC module support.

I have already spent a considerable amount of time working with ASUS support and providing detailed diagnostic information, but unfortunately I have been unable to get past first-line support responses. At one point, I was even advised to update the monitor through Armoury Crate after the monitor was mistakenly referred to as a laptop.

At this stage, I am honestly a bit desperate to get this issue in front of someone who can either verify the expected USB behavior of the monitor in Firmware Update Mode or confirm whether there are known issues affecting certain XG27AQNGV units.

If anyone from ASUS happens to read this, or if anyone knows how to reach the appropriate engineering or monitor firmware team, I would be extremely grateful for any guidance.

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Ask on the official Nvidia forum, there's also a Form you can fill in to report bugs.

i was confused to at first, you need a micro usb cable to update firmware, its the small hole far right from looking at the back of the monitor

NOT USB C, MICRO USB, like the old port used with like galaxy s7 and below

the firmware update page doesnt even show anything in regards to needing micro usb
