If this is 2000 px/sec, then we're talking about roughly <2 frames worth of GtG (~<2 ms), which is faster than Pulsar or PG27AQN generation GtG. For LCD, this is bonkers fast!

For reference, here is how a standard "fast IPS" with ~10 frames (~10 ms) of GtG looks when you let it do 1000Hz (right image). Massive improvements were made!

I had my doubts, but this review cements it.
This IPS is a very strong panel. Much better than the abomination that the 480–500 Hz IPS were. Easily beats the HD@~1000Hz panels
Eclipses the new Pulsar panels & the PG27AQN panel (M270DAN10.0) in terms of G2G RT as well.

What's up with reviewers not mentioning panning speed they're using? It's extremely important if you're going to draw conclusions based on ufo test alone. Now that the Sync Track is included, we can at least tell the moving speeds from the ladder density.

On first image, the 850 and 1000Hz ufos are panning at 1 px/frame speeds, which is 850 and 1000 px/second. The 1100Hz ufo pans at 2 px/frame or 2200 px/second.

On testufo, the distance between tick marks (ladders) is always 4 frames, which is very handy in these situations. Previous image was ~960 px/sec preset, so the GtG speed I was estimating earlier is actually ~4-5 ms, which goes in line with "ultra fast" IPS panels used for Pulsar/PG27AQN-like models. Still way better than a standard "fast IPS". However, for such high refresh rates, I'd still like to see another major generational leap in LC GtG speed.

Another thing I'd like to add, it appears that this panel could've been pushed ever so slightly more with overdrive, but the presets are of course lacking. This once again leaves me with a message for LG and other manufacturers - Stop cherry picking overdrive presets in OSD and implement a full level slider that you're hiding internally (0-255 levels for LG). Let the users cherry pick themselves! If you're using a form of variable overdrive, make it a gain offset slider instead. All your lazy ass needs to do is transfer it to OSD. I'm pissed because it takes you 20 years to fix the most basic stuff.

540 Hz OLED looks still better so what's the point of higher refresh LCD? Is it the price only?

These tests are designed to demonstrate what the eye sees when tracking moving objects. It doesn't demonstrate what the eye sees when stationary with moving objects or other scenarios. Is the stationary eyes situation really that important for perceived image quality in comparison to the eye tracking in your opinion? I remember the video from someone showing that you need several ten thousands of Hz to get a life like image for every speed of moving objects (was it 20000 Hz or so?). Does that apply to both stationary and tracking eyes?

This is hard to answer. No one ever proved which of the scenario is more important globally, and yet the eye tracking somehow became mainstream way to test displays. Which can be fine if you're mostly eye tracking, but I doubt it. Realistically, we are most likely doing a mix of various eye-movement vs content-movement combinations. So it would be logical to test multiple scenarios, not just one.

To tell exactly how much each is important, someone would need to do some seriously complex testing. I have a couple old comments regarding the topic. Quoting:

It all comes down to eye movement and content movement correlation. Rule of thumb is that flickering benefits eye tracking specifically. The more you deviate from perfect eye tracking the less benefit you'll notice. You can have as much motion as you want but if eyes don't track/move strobing will have no beneficial effect. I don't want to name exact gaming scenarios because each most likely includes a little bit of everything (and is why brute sample rate improvements are better). But it is true that some require more eye tracking than others, so logically strobing would be beneficial. To figure out the 1/2/A/B ratios, speeds and directions of a scene one would need to analyse some footage (Tobii Eye Tracker or similar) and spit out the data. Then we'd know what's really going on.

And ofcourse this only regards motion performance, there are other factors that play a role such as latency/reaction times.
Blur Busters have estimated the approximate thresholds for both scenarios. For motion blur (clarity during tracking) it's roughly 1000Hz, while the stroboscopic effect (blurrity during gazing) is ~10x harder to beat at ~10000Hz. It's multiple factor dependent, but motion speed mainly. Both keep improving beyond the thresholds for more extreme scenarios. So 20+kHz sounds about right.

So in short, it's cool and impressive, but it's not actually fast enough to take advantage of 1000hz and looks like a 540hz OLED in motion. Eek.

I'll just keep waiting for an RGB-stripe 600hz OLED.
