Re: My experience with “the lag” and temporary fixes

Separate area for niche lag issues including unexpected causes and/or electromagnetic interference (ECC = retransmits = lag). Interference (EMI, EMF) of all kinds (wired, wireless, external, internal, environment, bad component) can cause error-correction latencies like a bad modem connection. Troubleshooting may require university degree. Your lag issue is likely not EMI. Please read this before entering sub-forum.

I also forgot to mention that I had bought a laptop I hadn't plugged into the electricity of my home because it still had a little bit of battery left, and I was still having input lag.

Stop with this "its your body" crap already, how the hell would sweat or heat from your hands cause anything, the cables are shielded and cannot be damaged by static either, maybe fix the neutral wire first instead of inventing some supernatural explanations.

And by the way, the delays or lag or whatever are caused by PROCESSING of the information at the CPU level, and NOT by mouse input signals lmao, get real...placebo at its finest, you do something and then you think that everything works fine because you changed something, but then it always came back after 15 minutes...so your gloves.exe and waterpot.exe stopped working after 15 minutes?
Not a really big fan of believing that my hands or body creates some type of “interference”, but how would you explain that even with the same hardware and on the same room a friend and I played rocket league (he’s almost the highest rank in the game for context) and while playing, he said whenever I touch the controller the screen starts tearing a little bit and he saw that inputs were heavy/delayed and we didn’t play on my home was his. Still ok let’s assume maybe we were tripping or was an electric problem which is unlikely tho, why this also happened on a cyber cafe, where the hardware is basically new and high end. Before blaming the electricity I asked the owner if I can ran some test with my multimeter and a socket tester, there weren’t any problems with the electricity and the electric installation was also new. Still got the same sensation and this was with a completely different hardware and controller, I didn’t even take my phone just for testing, the only thing was still the same was me lol.

Temporary fixes/Possible Fixes:
bro i think u are in the same case as me because when i rub my hands for like 30 seconds my input lag reduces for 2 minutes
Same :/, if you play on controller I’ll recommend you to shield it with socks. it’s kinda uncomfortable, but at least feels better than having input lag

Actually, this is a fascinating topic, and this guy isn't crazy. Every single symptom he describes is true. Most people here on the forum and across the internet say the exact same thing. The way the game changes, and what causes it to change (input lag)—it’s identical for everyone. This means there is a single, common source. But what it actually is, nobody knows yet.His observation about hands and sweat is a really good one. However, we still only know that it affects things, and that computer performance and the game change, altering the input lag. But we don't know which physical law underlies this process or phenomenon. What is actually happening?I could even pitch my own theory: that the flow of time itself changes—either slowing down or speeding up—which causes the desynchronization. Of course, at our current stage of scientific development, no one can prove or disprove this theory. But purely theoretically, if you were to locally slow down or speed up time, a desync in an online game is exactly what you would get.

I will just say I had EXACT SAME experiences. Same problems, same random temporary solutions that fixes the issues for a match of two or an hour or a day. (and lot of the temp solutions will work once and won't work again until I try them few weeks later again and same where the problems exist across, hardware, software, ISP, peripherals and location.

And my hands also sweat a lot after playing for awhile. And if I don't touch the mouse for a few minutes and return to the game, the game and mouse gets so much more responsive and easy to aim.. ut only for several seconds/ minutes and then the lag issues degarde to worse and worse over time again. Most of the time across all the online games, the first match or 2... the lag issues are minimal. Like I will go 30-10 on scoreboard. Then over time my scores and K/D will get worse and worse to where My K/D is negative. But still it doesn't explain HOW WE cause this. What reasonable/scientific reason is there?

Lmaooo, usually when you sweat is when probably you will feel some sort of deterioration. I have a towel to clean the sweat and an A/C to reduce it. Sadly I’ve hyperhidrosis which on critical moments reduces stability, still is the most stable “fix” I’ve found. The more you reduce any physical contact the better.

It can be a lot of things, even ones that are out of control. Sadly this is kinda niche bc most people can just plug and play without any problem, still there are some possibilities we can just discard by pure testing. It isn’t location based because it happens to all people over the world, it isn’t something about electric installations (this can simply be proven by inviting someone to your house and play with your setup .If both have the same results and experience some type of lag, then you can assume it’s something wrong with the electric installation or other way would be simply playing in another place with completely different hardware and see if the lag disappears), it isn’t some conspiracy bs that our accounts have something otherwise creating a new account would fix it or having someone to create it for you, neither an isp issue changing of isp could fix it or playing on another place. At the end of everything the only “variable” that still is the same is you.
Even if it’s us somehow, there are still plenty of possibilities. My biggest bet is on sweat/heat transferring creates some type of electric noise that interferes with the input hardware and nothing else. If it creates an interference with something else, the computer would just crash instantly bc the cpu wouldn’t be able to handle the instructions correctly and other hardware would also fail in consequence of the cpu failing. Also I bet for sweat because our skin has a really big resistance which ranges around 0.1-10M ohms and sweat is highly conductive due to their properties and usually the “lag” starts getting noticeable after 2-5 minutes when usually people starts to sweat on that range of time.

I can also add that I’ve noticed all these many things u wrote about as well.

Trying it now,
I never noticed my hands are a bit moist while playing. And wiping them on my shirt makes my aim instantly better. After a clip or two my hands instantly start sweating again and then the lag feeling comes back. This is kinda crazy lol

I’ve experienced similar things to what you described. If you hold ice, a cold glass, or a piece of metal for around 20 seconds, the mouse’s weight changes quite a lot, but it doesn’t last long and it doesn’t seem to have any effect on desync. I also experienced a similar effect to the one I get from ice when doing a median nerve stretch.

If you put your PC next to a window and you’re sitting in front of the window yourself, the screen seems to become clearer. I don’t think it’s a sweat problem, because if that were the case, wearing gloves or having a fan blow directly on your hand should solve it, or it shouldn’t improve when you hold ice.

It feels more neurological to me, or maybe related to body temperature. I also have hyperhidrosis, but some pros have this problem too, so I don’t think that really means anything.

For me, the least laggy gameplay I’ve ever experienced happened one day when the metal showerhead broke. I spent around 40 minutes fixing it with a metal Allen key, and when I sat down at my PC afterward, it might have been the smoothest, most lag-free and effortless gameplay I’ve ever had. If I’m making something with a mixer, using a mixer like this gives me the heaviest mouse feeling afterward, but even that isn’t consistent.

Do you have any other health issues? Also, could you share your body temperature after waking up and after eating, measured from your armpit? And could you also tell me how you grip the mouse and whether you play mainly with your arm or your wrist?
