NVIDIA G-Sync Pulsar monitor - Asus ROG Strix XG27AQNGV

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, ToastyX, black frame insertion (BFI), and now framerate-based motion blur reduction (framegen / LSS / etc).

So happy about the firmware news :)

I wish they did all the firmware improvements for the launch day. Would get much better coverage and way more positive feedback. And as it is - marketing completely failed - the monitor was tested mostly by e-sport people, who presented Puslar as a feature only for e-sport players. And then one stupid but popular guy reviewed it and his main point was how bad the monitor is in terms of latency cause 500Hz OLEDs are much better. :(

Meanwhile it's so popular, the -40% sale in Poland lasts for like a week and keeps going, which basically means zero people intrested as sales usually have limited number of items. It there was normal demand, it would've been gone in hours or max one day.
All that happens while the hardware gets more and more valuable with each firmware improvement.

Sadly, Hardware Unboxed promised a proper test of Pulsar monitors after first quick look and... never delivered. :(

edit 28.08.2026: Monitors Unboxed (Hardware Unboxed side channel) just uploaded a Q&A where he apologized about not making the promised reviews yet. He says he will eventually review Pulsars, but it keeps getting side-tracked.

All that and the official price still makes zero sense. Completely wrong approach. Pulsar is not e-sports only feature. The marketing AND price targets the wrong group!

I think the problem is pulsar wasn't ready for release when they announced it or when they released it earlier this year. They released it to get it out the door before the OLED hype would kill any small amount of traction it would have and now they are essentially working towards improving it to the state it was meant to be released in. VRR + Backlight strobe tuning is extremely difficult to do right and they probably had to make a lot of calls in terms of "motion clarity and appealing to a niche audience" and "reducing flicker and fatigue for the general audience" to create a bigger market for it than it currently exists. I can text every person I know and they don't know anything about backlight strobing, what good motion clarity looks like or have very "lossy" vision where they don't really pick out fine details per frame like I would.

I'm glad they are still improving pulsar and can't wait for the deep software integration with the nvidia app that was wish listed from me since I think if they are going to sell this product as an "Nvidia only" tech, they should at least have the deep software integration to justify it somewhat (can't wait for third parties to make competent competition to this technology).

I think some reviewers are also waiting for the "final-ish" version of pulsar before they do more revisiting or in depth reviews just like they did with Asus PG27AQN and ULMB 2 got released.

I have now owned both the Acer and Asus pulsar models and can confirm they both suffer from the 320fps bug after a few minutes causing latency to double. Using the latest 1.1.8 pulsar firmware with the latest 616.56 nvidia drivers.

restarting the display driver with Win + Ctrl + Shift + B fixes the problem but only for a couple minutes before it bugs out again. Hopefully the next firmware has a fix for this but I'm worried it wont.

this bug only happens for me when i have a monitor plugged into my igpu and it messes up how mpo's function, when all monitors are plugged into my dgpu it doesn't happen and maintains 360hz on the monitor's osd

My igpu is disabled in bios with no other cables connected other than display port from monitor to nvidia gpu so just a single monitor setup. This is a fresh windows install as of four days ago too. This bug never happens with other non-pulsar monitors.

I do not have this issue, I think someone did mention this bug happens on setups with only 1 monitor but if you have at least 2 monitors connected, it doesn't happen. Not sure how true that is but so far pulsar is working for me and I see the FPS fluctuate with VRR enabled as it should.

Yes I also thought this is a single display issue. I also have not seen this on my end. On my RTX I have the pulsar screen, one UHD LG TV and a VR Headset, on my iGPU I have two FHD screens attached which are on the left and right of my pulsar screen.

I also never had a stutter issue on any game with new drivers. Not with my 4070 and also not with the 5070ti. I never had to roll back to an older driver.

I dont know what causes these problems... On the other hand, I had my own issues ;-)

One more update on the new FW. It will be 1.1.10:

upcoming FW

1.1.10 is releasing to OEMs today (8/27), they will need to do their QA.
if all goes well we estimate publishing 1.1.10 less than 2 weeks from today, be patient please, it is coming !
