terrible stutter/screen tearing on fullscreen, but not fullscreen windowed?
Re: terrible stutter/screen tearing on fullscreen, but not fullscreen windowed?
did some testing, apparently when i play a non native res in fullscreen, its perfectly fine, but when i play on my native resolution its going crazy with the screen tearing.. anyone know why it is like that?
Re: terrible stutter/screen tearing on fullscreen, but not fullscreen windowed?
everything is infact 240hz, even tried forcing it on launch options and inside NVCP :/ i did find out that when i play no a non native resolution, it would feel like true 240hz, without the input lag from windowed fullscreen, idk whats causing this, but i guess i should check what settings my pc is running through CRUDPRTMELR wrote: ↑21 Aug 2022, 14:19It would feel like you are playing with vsync enabled on windowed (non-tearing smooth butter), because you are in fact playing with vsync enabled on windowed mode lol. The right to play games without input lag penalty on windowed mode is reserved for windows 7 master race.
Do you have any way to actually confirm you are running 240hz during the full screen mode for the game you are having trouble with? maybe you are running 60hz without even realizing it since you say fps is consistent. Like in video settings instead of relying on auto to do the work, set it at 1080p@240hz manually and see if it makes a difference.

Apex Legends is a annoying game in terms of smoothness, every tweak u do have zero affect on the game. This game is so buggy, for example if u have a usb drive connected u cant get past the loading screen lol unless u plug it out. Been fixing this for 2 years now, other games do feel normal but apex feels like a slideshow and the enemies have a advantage everytime

yeah never trust windows10 to save the settings correctlykPhobos wrote: ↑21 Aug 2022, 16:08everything is infact 240hz, even tried forcing it on launch options and inside NVCP :/ i did find out that when i play no a non native resolution, it would feel like true 240hz, without the input lag from windowed fullscreen, idk whats causing this, but i guess i should check what settings my pc is running through CRU

funny thing is - restoring monitor and gpu defaults through nvidia, and using nvidia's custom res tool, instead of CRU would completely fix the issue, except for the general stuttering which occurs in apex - been looking for a fix to this specificly, since no other game has micro stutters, even if running at lower and fluctuating fps, compared to the constant 240fps in apex. I ended up trying to find or make a solution, and concluded that the small microstuttering/tearing is produced by the engine itself, since it runs on a heavily modified version of source engine (which is a really old and borderline outdated engine)DPRTMELR wrote: ↑03 Sep 2022, 12:31yeah never trust windows10 to save the settings correctlykPhobos wrote: ↑21 Aug 2022, 16:08everything is infact 240hz, even tried forcing it on launch options and inside NVCP :/ i did find out that when i play no a non native resolution, it would feel like true 240hz, without the input lag from windowed fullscreen, idk whats causing this, but i guess i should check what settings my pc is running through CRU
funny thing is, games like MW2 (original from 2009) which runs on the same engine as Quake 3, has no micro stuttering whatsoever, even with fps being forced to sub 240 by maxing out every quality setting both on nvidia and game side. which kinda contradicts my point with older engines having this issue... so at it is right now, i just stopped playing apex because it just felt horrible, even after fixing the horrible screen tearing i had produced myself, through CRU without knowing. it wasnt as bad as before i reverted monitor configurations to default, but for some reason it just felt completely off. Also i've come to the conclusion that the devs behind Apex Legends are being run to the ground by EA's greed, by not fixing game breaking bugs, and focusing on revenue through cosmetics. almost 3k hours in this game, but finally saw how horrible of a company EA has become, after trying out shatterline, where the devs are living in Ukralne, so they have a lot of other stuff to deal with, ontop of their game - yet they still pump out fixes for gamebreaking bugs within a matter of 1-5 days, where some bugs in apex has been apparent since release, lol... ran a bit off topic there, sorry about that..
TLDR;
fixed my stuttering issue by resetting monitor config to default, and concluded that Apex legends isn't worth spending time on competetively anymore, so i switched to other franchises, to try and make it there :p
