To be frank, mine says 8.1 on both current and max while still having the lag issues. P.S. my DP cable is from FIBR which is also fiber, did cost me around $55.

Im not sure how any of it makes sense. As I said, all of my cables now show up with 8.1 gbps current rate. Unless you think the Kabel Direkt cables have some magical key that opens up your link rate, I'm not sure those exact cables are the cure. I did a complete windows reinstall a couple days before and while the mouse wasn't smooth at that point there was 2 things that happened before I installed the cable.
1)Windows somehow failed to properly install my Nvidia drivers-It could not download the control panel because I did not use the same login I used every other time I did a windows install therefore it could not access Microsoft Store. I did a DDU wipe with new drivers.
2)For some reason my audio never degraded in the couple days (which was before the new DP cable). Usually, my audio seemed to degrade slightly after a fresh install. It's like the audio quality and volume always decreased slightly. On this install, it never happened. I never installed the Nvidia High Def audio driver (that comes with the driver package, I usually don't install this but I have before as well).

When I changed the cable it was the first time I changed the cable since the fresh windows install. When I went back to check the other cables, they all have the same link speed 8.1 where as before it was always 5.4.

So...the two possible theories are
1)Kabel Direkt has some magical code that no other cables seem to have to change the link speed or
2)Something about the way I did the fresh install seemed to make things work correctly and the link speed was somehow adjusted when a new cable was installed.

One more side note-I installed my Razer synapse software last. I had it unplugged during the install bc I was always annoyed that it always seemed to be one of the first drivers windows would install. This may be completely irrelevant.

I don't think buying a certain brand of cable is the answer and I don't want to hear people upset if it doesnt work. In my opinion $15 from Amazon and it is worth a shot but I hope you guys don't get your hopes up for something that really doesnt make sense on paper. Please let me know how it works out for everyone.

Haha it's 45$ for a 3ft Kabeldirekt cable here. I never changed my monitor's dp cables, both ones. Odyssey G7 and Asus PG259QNR so I think it's worth a shot.

Have you noticed any reduction in the input lag or any improvement in the game with this new cable ? I will buy the cable coz like I said I've never changed my monitor's dp cables and I've read and heard from many that monitor companies don't bother with VESA certified or a better dp cable.
Recently I bought the Asus pg259qnr and it's an amazing display for mp games. My earlier display - Odyssey G7 was good but the Asus is far better I can say. And yes, the input lag reduction with the Asus is very noticeable in games.

If anyone else is able to replicate the "cable working as a key" behavior- I'll bite the bullet & buy one too.

NVM- too late- I cracked & ordered one....

Pardon me, im using latest gpu-z with an amd gpu with hdmi on LG 24gl600f. I dont see any monitor info(5.1gbps / 8.2gbps! ) on my gpu-z ? Is this DP cable or Nvidia specific option only? Thanks.

This seems to be a red herring (maybe). I tested the new dp cable with my other monitor and it shows 5.4 gbps (for a 165 hz 1440 display). The new monitor overclocks to 180 hz. Apparently after further dissection, DP 1.2 will be used up until about 170 hz give or take. I only had the new monitor for a month and a half and I never actually used GPU Z in that time. That being said, this cable seems to make a big difference in mouse smoothness and picture quality.
