TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot Increases Lag! (Tested)
Recently, a youtuber named 'Tech Yes City' did a comparison Video between Windows 10 vs Windows 11 and found out that W11 has more latency.
It's pretty interesting to see what he tested. He specifically compared TPM, Secure Boot on vs off and saw a 3ms reduction in Lag (mouse movement to photon delay), just by disabling these settings inside bios.
Also, he showed that disabling backround services and tune/debloat windows does make a big difference for Latency, no matter which windows version.
I'm happy to see someone finally testing these things, because it was in debate that these settings decreases lag.
So yeah, debloating, tuning your windows install DOES make a difference!

Yes, some tweaks do indeed work. I recently decided to try using some tweaks and debloated my Win 10 install. My PC is now flying and is so responsive it almost feels like I jumped from an HDD to an SSD even though this whole time I had an NVME. I also disabled Secure Boot on my old Celeron laptop with an HDD and it also made a pretty dramatic difference in performance. I use WinUtil by ChrisTitusTech btw, it's a great tool to debloat windows, disable services/power saving features in a fast way. I always use it with every windows 10 or 11 installation. Works great.
But sure, there are other things which have a bigger effect, FPS of course or Frame Times.
Still interesting to see, that these settings reduce latency by like 5ms or even more.

Do not do it unless you willing to do system restore or reinstall
Device manager: Delete print queue stuff , now your mouse movemet is much worse.

Sure, some stuff is dangerous to touch. For example changing things in the registry can actually break your whole windows install.
Windows comes with so much bloat and stuff, that isn't made for latency sensitive multimedia tasks. Microsoft just aims to provide the most casual, user friendly experience you can have.
They implemented these things, so windows is working even on really old systems.
For example, memory compression. It works by compressing the data inside your ram, so people with low amount of ram (like 8gb) wont have problems.
This has a negative impact on cpu utilization, because now the cpu needs to compress and decompress data ALL THE TIME, file by file.
In games, it lowers your 1% and 0.1% drastically, resulting in frametime fluctuatins.
There are many other examples, but its too much ^^

But, I saw many guides, tests with high fps slow-motion cams that measured the latency of fully optimized systems. 2 of these tests had devices and services, like the "printer queue" and "fax" disabled.
They still saw major reductions, both in mouse click to photon latency and mouse movement to photon latency.
The video I posted also included this.
I also don't know how it would affect your mouse movement in any negative way. It's simply a service that runs in the backround checking the USB hubs for connected print devices.
It doesn't change how the mouse behave, like mouse settings or usb throttling.
