Do I Have To Test New Monitors for Frame Skipping?

Post by Mark Fable » 06 Nov 2022, 15:57

My understanding is that frame skipping may only occur after monitor overclocking, so do I need to test new monitors for frame skipping or is that a non-issue with monitors at their native refresh rate?

Generaly, it is a non-issue 99%+ of the time.

Some models had firmware bugs that caused frameskipping at their native Hz, though most of them had workarounds.

Thanks. I did go ahead to test my monitor just in case and I believe there are no skipped frames. What do you think? I attached a picture for your reference.

Also, just to clarify, frame skipping outside of the realm of monitor overclocking is only caused by a firmware bug, correct?

Correct.

And yes, your monitor is fine at 144 Hz!
