I'm suprised this has not gotten any traction anywhere. Suspiciously anounced alongside the launch of 1440p 500hz qdoleds.
Only reason i am posting this here is because i hope someone with contacts at lg display can tell them a dual mode at 720p 720hz is not very usefull. For a bunch of various reasons but the important one that will be discussed. If a user wants interger scaled 720p for some odd reason. They can set it it manually.
Therefore it is in LGs interests to make the dual mode 1080p 720hz (10bit, 54gbps) and or with an "overclock" up to 900hz (10bit 78gbps).
1440p 540hz /720p 720hz woleds going into production this year.

720p 720Hz integer is more useful than 720p 540Hz integer scaling. Although all these LG's DFR dual modes seem to not scale perfectly integerly. It lands exactly between standard blurry bicubic and ideal integer scaling (viewtopic.php?p=112106#p112106).
What I'm wondering is how does DFR even work? Why is it limited to 720Hz (x1.33) instead of 1080Hz (x2) like on previous monitors? Bandwidth shouldn't be a problem, especially with DSC. Maybe scaler limitation or something else?

In the press release they talk about 540hz only being possible due to new algorithms. So maybe they just don't have the code to account for data correction at that 1ms level.
An advanced user elsewhere on a seperate topic was wondering if the reason 4k 360hz oled displays still don't exist yet is because they are worried about voltage control.
I have a 32 inch bgr 720p tv that i still use often. It is a horrible experience up close. 720p at 27 inches that isn't even likely true interger is going to be way worse than what people remember 720p as.
I wrote some stuff but maybe it's the real reason its 720p only. 1440p even if upscaled at 720hz is 123gbps. Cutting that data in half should still be doable though so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
