New leak lists AOC 27" QHD 500Hz/FHD 1000Hz dual-mode monitor for 2026. FHD is a possible typo, so it's most likely HD 720p.

Keep in mind 720 Hz OLED outperforms 1000 Hz LCD by a significant amount in the motion blur tests, even at 1920 pixels/sec.
I now recommend 1920 pixels/sec going forward for 500 Hz monitors. I may make it the new default speed in TestUFO Ghosting.

DisplayPort and HDMI standards need to keep up here. You can only push DSC so far before it starts looking like a low quality JPEG.

Sooner or later, default speed will need to be increased. This will make MPRT/GtG differences more noticeable and help minimize deviations in target speed. Currently, 720–600 Hz displays pan at 720–1200 pps when using the 960 pps preset, which is a notable 25% deviation. Increasing the speeds will reduce these errors.

Any idea why the maker didnt use higher shutterspeeds like 960/1500 or 1920 /1? It's a scientifically peer reviewed inventon. Tracking camera = Tracking eyeball.
(Moving camera as an analog of a moving eyeball).
Short shutter speeds make it inaccurate for the pursuit camera. Look at how sharp the 720Hz picture is despite a slow shutter speed on a moving camera -- that means the display is so fantastic at blur busting it even busts camera-panning blur too.

OLED is the only commercially available electrical visual display techonology capable of 'truthful' refresh rate representation (G2G RT<MPRT) due to ~0,3ms G2G G2G values RT across all combinations within the 0-255 range.
As of the time of writing, in the >240hz realm (363 in total — LCD=222, OLED=141, as per geizhals filter query):
(This rant below encompasses eye-tracked motion handling mostly, somewhat foregoing the fixed-gaze aspect)
• Modern IPS has already failed the >240Hz refresh rate race (PG27AQN is the only model with seemingly OLED-like compliance @ 240Hz, as per these reviews)
• Modern VA's are few (27G1S being OLED-like compliance @ 240Hz; as per techless & Discorz)
• Only E-TN (540Hz) & Rapid-TN (600-610Hz) are somewhat still on the race track, as per MUB/HUB's PG248QP G2G heatmap data, techless XL2586X data, MUB/HUB XL2586X, XL2586X RTINGS data, PG248QP RTINGS, x-kom's AG246FK data & techteamGB's AG246FK6 data
Reminder, the testing methodologies across different reviewers aren't comparable, as some are percentage-based & some are based on a fixed RGB offset. x-kom & techless' data can be cross-compared due to the use of the same tool at the same settings
I fail to see how they aren't able to turn the new 500Hz tandem W-OLED panels into a 1000Hz@HD dual mode option.
The bandwidth with HDMI 2.2 FRL9 & DP2.1 UHBR20 is there. The G2G RT is more than capable... What's the hurdle?...

We don't know if it's IPS, but not great news yeah. I'm not a fan of dual modes reaching 1000Hz first either. If these turn out to have insufficient GtG, they'll not only be blurry in motion (tracking), but also when static due to incorrect pixel scaling. OLEDs are great for motion, but they need few more years of cooking to resolve other basic flaws imo.
They absolutely are. I'm guessing they didn't want first 1000Hz to be "720p". Native 1080p would be more acceptable for the crowds, but since these are not going into production, we're stuck with blurry dual modes for now. 1440p would be nicer... Don't know what's up with that TCL 4k 1000Hz HVA panel. It's been more than a year since they showed it off.
