NVIDIA G-Sync Pulsar monitor - Asus ROG Strix XG27AQNGV

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, ToastyX, black frame insertion (BFI), and now framerate-based motion blur reduction (framegen / LSS / etc).

Hey thx for replying! I play Apex Legends at an constant 300 fps. Would u play it on ULMB2 mode or PULSAR?
Definitely go with G-SYNC Pulsar! That is literally the best of the best, today, tomorrow, and always.

Even if you maintain a constant 300 FPS, Apex can get really chaotic in big fights, and your frames might drop just a little bit. With ULMB 2, you have to turn off G-SYNC, so any small drop will cause screen tearing.

Pulsar is basically the evolution of ULMB 2 (or whatever other competing strobing tech), giving you incredible motion clarity that's super close to it, but with G-SYNC turned on. You don't have to choose between motion blur and screen tearing. It's a no-brainer! That makes Pulsar a total revolution.

Thank you kind sir! Appreciated!

I think there's something important being overlooked in this pursuit of perfect motion clarity: temporal resolution. It's easy to fall into the trap of obsessing over TestUFO results, trying to achieve perfectly sharp moving objects while forgetting that motion is much more than just image persistence.

Low MPRT makes individual frames sharper, but it doesn't increase the number of unique motion samples. At 120 FPS, an object moving at 3000 pixels per second jumps 25 pixels between frames. At 360 FPS, that drops to just 8.3 pixels. This becomes especially important during fast camera rotations, where objects sweep across large visual angles in a fraction of a second.

Our visual system is extremely sensitive to motion across the visual field. Even with perfectly sharp frames, insufficient temporal resolution produces stroboscopic stepping, judder and multiple-image artifacts during eye movements. In fact, reducing persistence can make these artifacts more noticeable because the motion samples become sharper and more separated.

That's why I strongly disagree with the idea that high FPS is mostly marketing or placebo. You can have virtually zero persistence and still experience visibly unnatural motion if temporal resolution is too low. And the faster the angular motion across your field of view, the more demanding the temporal sampling becomes.

TestUFO is an excellent tool for evaluating motion clarity, but getting perfectly sharp UFOs at 120 FPS doesn't mean you've achieved perfect motion reproduction. You have only solved one part of the problem.

The real goal should be combining extremely low persistence with the highest practical temporal resolution. That's where G-SYNC Pulsar becomes particularly interesting. It allows us to pursue both simultaneously instead of pretending that one replaces the other.

Next firmware update will take some time. And will probably be the last one for this display generation.

DrGsync posted some hours ago: "it's going to take some time. We want to do all improvements in a single 'last update'. Working on it. And no, I don't have a hard schedule. It always takes longer then I think, so I stop making promises."

Sad, but well... Its almost a year now. I hope more improvements regarding frame pacing etc. will follow on Nv driver level.

This is the most interesting comment:
drG-SYNC wrote: “I acknowledge seeing this Pulsar clarity request. There are design constraints that make this very hard. 4 levels is certainly impossible, but we are investigating if a 'half of today' pulse width would be possible. This isn't a promise. We are looking at it, but it may have issues when we try.”

Baffled to see that "4 levels is certainly impossible" comment... but I hope they'll target a more aggressive curve with a 200cd/m² ceiling.
