Are you using 90 or 100 brightness in HDR? I found that 100 brightness loses a lot of shadow detail and blows out basically every colour, I get that it warns you the PQ curve is affected when you switch to 100, but it really looks bad to the point I don't like using it.
Yeah, I've noticed this too ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
I know that's a bit late, since it's a thing for several months already, but for someone who will be reading or searching for this.
Despite looking much better than PG27, hdr in this model can still look odd with yellow colors, when there's a lot of yellow lighting or dim desert-like sunlight. Not ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Yes, I only use SDR if I'm browsing the internet and HDR on all games like you. Did you have the same black crush when you first used the monitor with novideo? Like without editing CRU or NVCP or anything
It was long ago, I don't remember, but I couldn't fix it with primaries, that's all I can ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
1. Yea
2. Just the HDR profile, I did have the Asus profile when I installed the driver but deleted it to avoid double clamp
3. Everything on default in NVCP, I found that messing with Contrast and stuff there caused the HDR calibration app to clip at a lower amount of nits, so instead of 800 it ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
And about the EDID primaries, there is almost no black crush for me on Lagom's black level test. I can see square 3 clearly and square 2 if I concentrate on the overall picture. This is with 100 brightness though, which I think it should be to make it fair. Like obv there will be more black ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Why are you colour temps so low in general though? Lowest I have seen was putting G at 96 and B at 95
Low? I can't say, last time I touched them was long time ago, I guess I liked these values? Bigger numbers look more 'bright' to my eyes, and I don't like bright displays, apart from hdr mode in ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Can someone post their SDR settings on their OSD please? I have set the User mode to 100-100-100 RGB, and I'm using novideo_srgb for the clamp. The colour temp is way too yellow and shadow detail is lost, even when I set it to 6500K instead(ik it's not exactly 6500K)
Here is a comparison between ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
I tried upping contrast to 80 (had it at 50), as it was default when I first turned on the monitor, and now I can easily see square 3 at 240hz, that is a huge improvement.
80 is the default though, not 50.
Do I need to unclamp before switching to hdr? I saw somewhere that novideo can affect ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
User mode. Racing mode has a dimmer red (look like lower luminance for red, not desaturation.) Other than that they look pretty much identical. I would say user mode seems to be the native output of the display.
In EDID mode with novideo_srgb, I can see all squares in the black level test at ...
