I hope IF they implement the profile switching for ULMB 2 and pulsar modes through nvidia app (or control panel) that they will allow us to keep the settings active for the currently selected "main" monitor. I wouldn't want my pg27aqn to switch modes (although it would be nice for them to add the ability to change Gsync native monitor modes independently of each other but that might be too huge an ask tbh). This would be a huge QOL update. The amount of switching ive done from 60 to 360 to gsync off/on it gets annoying after a while.
Ideally the Pulsar mode should just drop down to 55hz, let us toggle the limit down from 75 and leave it up to us to see if the flicker is too much, everyone has differnt sensitivity.
And im so glad it looks like they fixed the auto switching behaviour of the HDMI ports, that gets annoying too if you have 2 different consoles connected.
I think the 60 hz flicker isn't the problem as much as
1. Changing flicker as the refresh rate changes between 55 - 75 fps becomes not only noticeable but incredibly more taxing than variable flicker above the flicker fusion threshold
2. The compensation pulse will probably adds to the erratic flicker strain at lower refresh rates.
This might be an unpopular opinion and probably would look down upon but I'd argue they should change the algorithm for pulsar when the frame times are BELOW 75 hz to the following:
If BELOW 75 hz AND FPS = 60 FPS consistently for X seconds
Begin ULMB 2 60 hz pulsing (no compensation pulse)
Else IF BELOW 75 hz AND ULMB 2 60 hz strobing AND fps not consistent
Disable 60 hz strobing and lock out 60 hz ULMB 2 in VRR operation for X seconds
Else Regular Gsync pulsar operation
They made Gsync pulsar locked to Nvidia GPUs only, they minus well take advantage of their vendor lock to add some extra quality of life changes to pulsar that would only be possible if you control the GPU + the driver + the display. Of course I would rather pulsar eventually be usable with all GPU vendors but if that's never gonna happen (again it might, we saw what happened to Gsync native monitors) they minus well add some extra logic where the display scaler communicates with the GPU over display port (or the usb if it's fast enough which I doubt but you never know).
