So in your opinion do you think Pulsar monitors still outperform the PG27AQWP-W in motion clarity when using BFI?
Yes, see here
That graph compares S&H OLED vs VRR+impulsed LCD (Pulsar) and how they scale based on frame rate chosen.
Current BFI implementations on OLEDs which are on the market are completely useless and shouldn't be used.
Nice one, Im rather new to this stuff and Im in the process of purchasing either the oled or the pulsar.

Have you seen this YT video where the creator compres the motion clarity of OLED vs Pulsar and OLED with ELMB enabled. The stills look favourable for the OLED but I dont know how accurate his testing methodology is.

A major flaw that every reviewer does is:
• Testing only one TestUFO speed (you're never experiencing constant pixel speeds in a game)
• Not showcasing ladders for validity of pursuit photograph

The 1st reveals only a small portion of the total backlight strobing implementation
The 2nd makes the photo entirely invalid.

Something akin to this would be ideal:

This is how sample & hold scales, depending on pixel speed and refresh rate. The assumption is FPS=Hz.
3 fixed pixel speed targets were chosen.
In a good analysis of a backlight strobing implementation, you'd check a few speed levels (480, 960, 1440, 1920, 2400, 2880, 3000, 3840)
Though, all of these are approximations of performance.
The actual metric you want to know is the total pulse on time, which is found out by using a oscilloscope + light probe setup.
The inverse of that metric would be effective motion clarity, where the numerical value here expresses the pixel speed for which you'd get ≤1px of blur in.

Full RTINGS review is out!

The 120Hz pursuits look horrendous...
Note: All RTINGS pursuit photographs are 1920px/s

DyAc3=Premium @ 120Hz

DyAc3=High @ 120Hz

If only they'd let us adjust pulse width akin to the XL2566K...
This panel's backlight strobing implementation seems to be tuned for native refresh rate operation only.
See here for how it performs on 360Hz

Here's how the XL2566K @ DyAc+=Premium @ 120Hz performed

This is also without the Blurbusters Utilty, which would allow for a even sharper target at the expense of brightness.
Seems that these discrete rolling scan implementations have issues achieving low duty cycles.

IMO all rolling strobing displays are currently limited by backlight bleeding. There must be hard separation between backlight zones to achieve best motion clarity but there's no approach yet (which does not degrade image).
And brightness vs time graph of Pulsar displays fully reflects that.

Can we get definitive info if the Blur Buster utility works with the ZOWIE XQ2566X please?

Sure! Go ahead and buy the monitor for confirmation purposes.
Follow my testing instructions and we'll figure it out together? :D

As you've likely concluded from my sarcastic remarks, finding someone with this model and the willingness to verify this functionality is the difficult task.

I have it. I've used it.. but not sure its working as intended. Actually. it worked last night when i had 2 zowies plugged in but now isn't working and says not supported... odd.. I only have the one plugged in now.

Blurbusters Utility acts as GUI for the VCP commands which alter pulse width ('Persistence') & pulse phase on DyAc1/+ displays.

For example:
XL2540X+
XQ2566X

As mentioned above in the XQ paragraph I've written, you can try adjusting these new values in softMCCS:
kyube wrote:New registers: 0xE0, 0xE1, 0xE2, 0xEA (Not the same names as previous DyAc models)
Start by setting your refresh rate to 100 or 120 Hz. That will show pulse width adjustments the best, if you choose a faster UFO speed.

Change only 1 value at a time.
The dispaly has to visibly get lower brightness & sharper in motion at the same time. Not only lower brightness.

I'm somewhat certain that the controller won't allow you to adjust pulse width since no rolling scan implementation other than ULMB2 (240-360Hz) on the new QHD@360Hz IPS Pulsar panels offer that.
